The 2025 NERFU Cup wrapped up in Newport this weekend, delivering two full days of rugby marked by high-level competition, strong club spirit, and nearly perfect weather. Aside from a bit of morning fog at kickoff and some brief sprinkles on Saturday, the conditions were ideal—blue skies, spring sun, and a steady wind off the water that made for a memorable setting.
Clubs from across New England took the pitch, with seven champions crowned across the men’s and women’s brackets. Worcester came out on top in the Men’s Cup Final after a tough battle with Boston, while Boston’s women outpaced Providence to take the Women’s Cup. Other brackets saw spirited wins from MIT/Maccabi, Worcester, Providence, Portland, and Amoskeag.
Final Results:
Men’s Cup Final: Worcester 20 def. Boston 15
Women’s Cup Final: Boston 21 def. Providence 8

Thanks go out to all the teams who made the trip and brought their best to the field. The quality of play, sportsmanship, and sideline energy remind us why this tournament remains a cornerstone of the spring rugby calendar.
NERFU would also like to thank the match officials, whose work made the event possible, and the many volunteers who kept things running behind the scenes. Ruggers.com returned for another year, supplying match balls, upgraded trophy hardware, and apparel. We’re especially grateful to Newport Rugby Football Club for hosting, and to McGrath Clambakes and Catering for their on-site food and logistics support.
Until next year—thanks for making the 2025 NERFU Cup one to remember.
