The Nor’Easters will take a break in 2025 after two successful seasons as the administrative and coaching team behind the initiative will be focused on other activities related to NERFU’s 50th anniversary.
In 2023, the Canadian Classics — an international touring side — invited NERFU to participate in a clash of titans by recruiting select players for the union’s membership and compete in a cross border match-up. NERFU’s finest were mustered into men’s and women’s teams – dubbed the Nor’Easters by the community. We were honored to host the Classics for a week which culminated in fixtures for both teams outside of Boston.
The Nor’Easters organized again in 2024 — this time traveling to Toronto. The team spent five days exploring the city, training, taking in a Blue Jays game and competing against the Classics in a rematch.
Since 1975, the New England Rugby Football Union has embodied grit, camaraderie, and unbreakable spirit. We honor the intrepid ruggers who laid the foundation and toast to every player, club, and supporter who’s kept the passion alive. Here’s to the next fifty!
