Men’s Head Coach

About the role

Mad River – Stowe RFC is accepting applicants for the Men’s head coach position. Ideal candidates would be able to start in April 2025 through the Fall season of 2025.
Matches and practices are typically held weeknights nights from 6:00 – 8:00pm. Club home pitch is located in Stowe, VT. Training locations vary based on seasons and availability – Montpelier, Stowe and Waterbury, Vermont
Responsibilities
*  Plan & attend 2-hour long weekly training during spring and fall seasons.
* Attend all match fixture(s) – away and home
* Design dynamic practices that enhance both attack & defensive play
* Facilitate training concentrating on skills training and on-field strategy/tactics
* Provide fundamental demonstrations that prioritize player safety and technique
* Reinforce values of communication, club culture and team unity
* Work alongside captains and club leadership to make match day roster selections
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have earned (or be willing to obtain before Sept 1st, 2025) USARugby coaching level II certification. In addition, 2+ years of experience coaching rugby at the college or club level. Must be able to communicate clearly, explain decision making, and lead a group of approximately 20+ men. Must be proficient with the bylaws and rules of rugby. USARugby referee level II certification is a plus.
Compensation
The board of directors have allocated funds for the head coach position. Stipend amount will be based on experience and attendance. Stipends to be delivered on a bimonthly basis.
